This book tells the true story of Jack and the beanstalk. Jack always craves for adventure. One day the giants come down to his world wrecking his town and stealing food and farm animals. However, the giants have taken something very important to Jack.4/5.

The giant wakes when Jack is leaving the castle the third time, and chases Jack back down the beanstalk. We learn a lot from Jack who is a resourceful character. When he trades in his mothers cow for some beans, he throws them into the garden where they grow. The beans sprout a magical beanstalk shoot that Jack can climb up and where he reaches the Giants castle in the clouds. Gustav Tenggren makes Jack live again as in colorful pictures, he forays up to the giant's castle and wins first the gold, then the hen, and at last the harp. The text . Jack cut down the magical beanstalk and neither the Giant, nor his wife, were ever seen again. And, true to the fairy’s word, the hen laid one golden egg each day. Before long, Jack and his mother had enough money to buy a new cow and I am pleased to say that—from that day forward—they lived a long, happy and prosperous life together.
